Hello, and welcome to my profile page. I am currently in my 5th year teaching at Tenafly High School and I teach Experience with Food and Creative Cuisine (otherwise known as cooking). Although this is my second career, I have been a “foodie” my entire life. I have a B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science from Hunter College in New York City, and a M.S. in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I am also a Registered Dietitian. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a Research Dietitian at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for 10 years, until I moved to New Jersey where I was employed by Rutgers Cooperative Extension as a Community Nutritionist. During my time working in the community,  I had the opportunity to work in many public schools teaching nutrition and it was there that I discovered how much I enjoyed working with young people teaching nutrition through cooking. I often thought how great it would be if I could find one great school to do just that.   Then one day I followed a lead for a position at Tenafly H. S. and voila! Here I am.  My dream job came true and I couldn’t be happier.   My goal for my students is to develop a broad understanding of wholesome foods and their origin and the ability to be self-sufficient in all the stages of preparing healthful foods for themselves and their families in the future.
